James H. Ouimette began practicing law in Addison County in 1978, succeeding to the law practice of Forrest S. Rose, Esq. on South Water Street in Vergennes. James W. Runcie joined the practice in 1985, and the law firm of Ouimette & Runcie was formed.
In the spring of 1992, the firm moved to its present location in the yellow brick building at 257 Main Street in Vergennes. In 2019, Ouimette & Runcie became Vergennes Law, PLLC, with Jim Runcie Of Counsel and Associate Jeremiah J. Ouimette also joining the firm. The firm continues to operate with three attorneys and paralegal Jessica Husk James under the Ouimette & Runcie name.
